The City of Naples, christen by newspaper articles and magazine stories of the 1870s and 1880s, after the Italian peninsula for its Dolphin citing experiences and climate is located in the heart of southwest Florida, East of Miami Dade County and South of Fort Myers.

Founded by a former Confederate general of the American Civil War John Stuart William and Walter N. Haldeman, the publisher of the Louisville Courier – Journal, Naples was not officially incorporated until 1925 with construction of the Seaboard Air Line Railway. Today the “Depot” or the station has been restored by Collier County Museums and is part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as a former site of USO entertainment for World War II soldiers after patrol.

Located on the coastline of Gulf of Mexico known for powder white sandy beaches, golf courses, and its luxury shopping and five-star dining venues. The Travel Channel named the beach town as one of the best beaches to go to in 2005, making it one of the wealthiest cities in Collier County and in the United States. It has the sixth-highest income in the country with the second-highest number of millionaire residents.

It is home to celebrities such as pizzazz filled TV Judge Judy, recording artist Donna Summer the “Queen of Disco,” who sold over 100 million records in her lifetime and Best Buy, electronics retailer, owner and CEO Richard M. Schulze. It has also been the initial home for former Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott.

Although mainly a beach town by nature with over 10 miles of sandy beaches, it has an eclectic architecture of both historical and modern developments. An examples is Fifth Avenue South and local malls such as the Waterside Shops are home to not only high-end fashion like designers like Salvatorre Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Tiffany & CO. and Swarovski and local designers too.

The City known to possess more holes than local resident Larry Byrd’s old jersey is known as a central golfing destination with over 80 championship golf courses throughout the city.

The city is Artist friendly and disposes of several Art Galleries for locals and visitors located on Gallery Row throughout downtown Naples. Making it a gateway for Copyright protections and copyright prosecution against infringement.

Shakespearean literary works are often revered in Naples through the Marco Island sister company the Naples Shakespeare Festival performed by volunteer Thespians with plays like “As You Like It,” “Othello” and “Hamlet.”

The City of Naples not only celebrates the artistic value of theatre, literature and art but also engages locals and the community in the performing arts from opera to theatre through The Opera Naples and the Equity Theatre Companies.
